The Certificate III in Gas Supply Industry Operations is designed for anyone wishing to become a Gas Industry Technician. This certificate is intended for workers undertaking and supervising work on Gas industry distribution pipelines, billing processes, cathodic protection processes and system operations processes. Also includes working and carrying out activities in industrial, commercial and rural environments on pipelines, control centers and associated facilities and equipment.
The Certificate III also runs Systems Operations for the Gas Supply Industry for high pressure gas supply.
The Gas industry has specific job roles that require targeted training. NTS is able to meet client needs to maximise outcomes for both employee and employer. Delivery and Assessment Options
- All units are classroom delivery and practical demonstrations
- Assessment for some units can be undertaken in our training facility at Chelsea Height or at your workplace
- Some units have an on-site assessment required in addition to the assessment conducted at our training facilities
Equipment and Materials
State of the Art facilities include a customized gas and workplace safety all weather training facility located in Carrum Downs. We also have two mobile training vans to enable on-site training and assessment for client convenience.
Who is it for
The Certificate III in Gas Supply Industry Options is aimed at people employed as:
- Maintenance assistant
- Maintenance crew leader
- Service and mainlaying assistant
- Service layer
There are no mandated prerequisite qualification requirements for entry into the Certificate III in Gas Supply Industry Operations.
The program outlined in this Training and Assessment Strategy is suitable for:
- Applicants who previously completed UEG20114 Certificate II in Gas Supply Industry Operations and who have 3 or more months work experience in the gas supply or other resources and infrastructure industries such as civil construction, electricity, water and telecommunications; or
- Applicants with 6 or more months work experience in the gas supply or other resources and infrastructure industries such as civil construction, electricity, water and telecommunications.
All students enrolled into this program are required to be currently employed in the Gas Supply Industry.
Applicants who have less than 3 months employment experience in the Gas Supply Industry may be enrolled into this qualification provided a training program with a larger volume of training and extended time for completion of assessments can be arranged.
This program is not suitable for new entrants to the gas supply industry who have no previous training or experience in resources and infrastructure industries. Applicants in this category should consider the Certificate II in Gas Supply Industry Operations or seek employment as an Apprentice in the Gas Supply Industry.
The minimum duration for this program is 12 months.
Students with credit transfer or recognition of prior learning for units may complete this qualification in less than 12 months.
The requirements for granting this qualification will be met when competency is demonstrated and achieved for:
- all the Core competency standard units to achieve a total weighting of 300 points, defined below and
- a combination of Elective competency standard units to achieve a total weighting of 660 points in accordance with the Elective rules below, resulting in the achievement of overall weighting of 960 points
Imported units from other qualifications, training packages and/or state accredited courses can be added to group A, but they must be at AQF level 3.
